Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to enter/review orders and sequence of assigned procedures based on the patient's condition.
  • Use judgment in selecting the most appropriate application of procedures and guidelines.
  • Accurately report and record significant patient information.
  • Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with complex problems per nursing standards.
  • Check patients into the clinic, interview patients and/or significant others, and document intake data.
  • Provide high quality nursing care using various modalities including triage and health maintenance visits.
  • Perform clinical pertinence reviews to ensure compliance with nursing practice standards.
  • Recognize and effectively intervene in urgent or emergent situations.
  • Prepare, administer and document medications and immunizations as directed.
  • Assess, record, and report vital signs and other health parameters.
  • Triage and prioritize patient needs in the clinic setting.
  • Serve as a resource for complex/specialized procedures.
  • Provide education to patients and families about health, self-care, and treatments.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Communicate professionally with patients and personnel while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Initiate consults per PACT and/or Specialty Expanded scope of practice.
  • Provide coverage for Women's Health clinical teams in Birmingham and Huntsville.

Requirements

Experience: Completion of at least one year of qualifying experience at the GS-5 level.

Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency.

License & Certification:

  • Full, active, current, and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse
