Job Responsibilities

  • Supervises, guides, and instructs subordinate staff.
  • Provides professional nursing care in accordance with nurse protocols, policies and/or procedures.
  • Manages the planning and implementation of the Perinatal Home Visiting Program.
  • Promotes maternal and child health and reduces disparities in birth outcomes.
  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates clinical and clerical staff.
  • Ensures required orientation and ongoing training requirements are met.
  • Provides educational opportunities that enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Creates a climate of respect, teamwork, and inclusion.
  • Plans, implements, and manages programmatic and clinical services.
  • Oversees and supports nurses providing care to pregnant women and families in their homes.
  • Assigns patient caseloads and monitors nurses’ ability to manage their workload.
  • Participates in community organizations and develops partnerships to advance the services of the program.
  • Ensures adherence to program protocols, policies, and procedures.
  • Oversees data collection and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate input into relevant systems.
  • Monitors program performance and compliance with state guidelines and regulations.
  • Ensures safe, quality services through quality improvement processes.
  • Participates in quality improvement efforts and program evaluation.
  • Identifies areas for improvement in service delivery and develops strategies to address them.
  • Oversees auditing and chart review processes.
  • Plans and monitors county health budgets in partnership with the lead business clerk and the District Business Office.
  • Evaluates supply, equipment, and staffing needs and plans resources accordingly.
  • Plans, implements, and manages community collaborations.
  • Collaborates with other program staff, community partners, and referral agencies.
  • May participate in outreach activities to promote the program and build relationships with potential clients.
  • Provides direct patient care services.
  • Delivers case management and nursing care according to public health protocols.
  • Conducts home visits and community outreach services to high-risk perinatal women and infants.
  • Performs physical assessments, takes vital signs, and conducts fetal monitoring.
  • Provides breastfeeding education and counseling and refers clients to appropriate social and health services.
  • Documents care in a thorough, appropriate manner in the EMR.
  • Participates in emergency preparedness planning and response activities.

Requirements

Experience: One (1) year of nursing experience

Education: Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university

License & Certification:

  • Current Georgia Registered Professional Nurse license
  • CPR certification
