Job Responsibilities

  • Assess patient needs within an urgent care and primary care setting
  • Appropriately triage patients to differentiate patient needs
  • Evaluate patients in a timely manner, prioritizing patient care over clerical duties
  • Perform a thorough history and physical exam on each patient
  • Create individualized, evidence-based plan of care
  • Consult the supervising or back-up physician as needed
  • Manage private, occupational medicine, and workers’ compensation patients
  • Follow evidence-based standards for ordering laboratory, radiology and other diagnostic studies
  • Use evidence-based resources for treatment options
  • Order and prescribe appropriate medications based upon best practice standards
  • Consult and refer to specialists as necessary
  • Perform procedures including local anesthesia, digital blocks, wound management and closure, foreign body removal, incision and drainage, managing orthopedic appliances, and initial fracture management
  • Comply with current rules and regulations by the governing bodies of the state
  • Educate patients regarding the disease process and discharge plan
  • Complete training requirements, including CME requirements for specialty
  • Serve as a resource in educating other staff members
  • Treat every patient professionally and compassionately
  • Communicate with clinical staff regarding patient condition and plan of care
  • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Evaluate and treat patients in a timely manner while maintaining high quality and safety
  • Accurately document the patient visit and follow-up care
  • Complete charts within 3 days of shift

  • DOT certification or the ability to be certified within 90 days of employment
