Job Responsibilities

Proficient in the care of critically ill ICU patients requiring numerous medication titrations to keep the patient hemodynamically stable
Assist with bedside emergencies such as intubation and providing conscious sedation observations
Observe minute changes in the patient's condition to avoid untoward events
Care and use of the Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Continuous Veno-Venous Hemofiltration, Bi-Ventricular Assist Device, Impella and other ICU equipment necessary for patient care
Work cooperatively as a member of the ICU team in all assignments
Make caring for veterans a priority while in the work setting and demonstrate customer service principles in all aspects of work

Required Skills

Core Skills

Ability to care for critically ill patients
Proficiency in medication titration
Emergency response skills (intubation, conscious sedation)
Competence with ICU equipment

Preferred Skills

At least one year of Telemetry and/or ICU experience

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency

License & Certification:

Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse

Schedule:

Full-time with varying days depending on patient care needs

COVID-19 Requirements: Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
