Job Responsibilities
- Develop and implement education plans for behavioral health staff.
- Identify learning needs and lead new hire orientation from a clinical perspective.
- Facilitate ongoing training programs and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Model best practices and engage staff in evidence-based education.
- Implement infection prevention protocols and train staff on infection control measures.
- Monitor compliance with infection prevention protocols to reduce risk of outbreaks.
- Conduct ongoing surveillance of infections and gather accurate records.
- Compile and present Infection Reports to relevant committees.
- Inspect environment and personnel activities to detect infection hazards.
- Investigate exposure incidents and oversee follow-up evaluations.
- Develop and provide in-service and orientation programs on infection prevention.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Expertise in clinical education and training
- Knowledge of infection control principles
- Ability to develop evidence-based educational content
- Skill in conducting orientations and training sessions
Preferred Skills
- Certification as an NPD Practitioner
- Clinical certification recognized by American Nurse Credentialing Center
- Experience in inpatient psychiatry and behavioral health
Requirements
Experience: 5+ years as a registered nurse, 2 years of behavioral health experience, and 1+ years in infection control preferred.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing required; Master’s degree in nursing or related field preferred.
License & Certification:
- Current state license
- Certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology preferred
- CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required
