Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the design, planning, evaluation and integration of clinical education and professional development activities.
  • Supports unit leadership team by demonstrating effective leadership, communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Develops and implements unit specific staff educational activities within the scope of nursing practice.
  • Collaborates with department leadership and support staff to prioritize educational needs.
  • Assists the department leadership in assessing new employee learning needs and developing orientation and education plans.
  • Provides input and assists manager/director in annual review of unit Scope of Service and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Facilitates the nursing unit’s education plan including nursing orientation, staff development, and continuing education.
  • Defines and coordinates orientation needs for all new unit employees.
  • Individualizes orientation, evaluates orientees' progress, and provides ongoing feedback.
  • Assists in the development of annual competency analysis system requirements.
  • Facilitates development of strong leadership behavior in unit staff.
  • Supports an environment for innovation and creativity in patient care delivery.
  • Initiates and participates in studies and research activities related to staff development and health care.
  • Serves as a change agent for appropriate changes within the health care delivery system.
  • Demonstrates respect and safety for all patients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Participates in meeting the Goals and Objectives of the Nursing Service Division.
  • Promotes effective communication and conflict resolution skills among staff.
  • Contributes positively to teamwork by assisting other staff and resolving problems.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement activities.
  • Completes performance reviews with manager input.
  • Assists with unit recruitment and retention initiatives.

Requirements

Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in area of practice.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within two (2) years of hire.

License & Certification:

  • Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Registered Professional Nurses or appropriate state board.
  • Current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
  • Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.
