Job Responsibilities
- Support and carry out the administration and management of Nursing Services to residents as per physician orders and total needs of residents
- Provide 24-hour supervision of Nursing Services in partnership with the Director of Nursing
- Direct the Nursing Department to maintain quality standards of care according to Federal, State, and Company standards
- Conduct nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation under the Nurse Practice Act of Registered Nurse licensure
- Coordinate plans for total care of each resident complying with physician orders, regulations, and facility care policies
- Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor implementation
- Participate in admissions decisions and visit prospective residents before admissions as needed
- Participate in management team meetings to discuss resident status, census changes, personnel, or complaints
- Ensure delivery of compassionate quality care evidenced by staff coverage and cleanliness
- Demonstrate knowledge of Key Clinical Quality Indicators and monitor systems to achieve quality thresholds
- Collaborate with physicians and agencies to improve service quality and resolve problems
- Assist in coordinating nursing services with other departments
- Responsible for competency testing on nursing personnel
- Implement and monitor the infection control program to prevent disease and infection transmission
- Prepare infection control surveillance reports and develop actions to control infections
- Coordinate ongoing QA activities for nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements
- Compile findings summary for the Quality Assurance committee
- Help prepare staff for inspection surveys and conduct training on compliance matters
- Monitor facility incidents and complaint reports for unusual occurrences and participate in investigations
- Promote compliance with safety rules and accident prevention procedures
- Ensure RN coverage compliance and coordination of abuse and neglect services
Required Skills

- Experience in long-term or acute health care

Requirements
Experience: Five years in long-term or acute health care preferred; at least 2 years nursing supervisory experience required
Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited nursing school required
License & Certification:
- Currently licensed as RN in the state of Kansas
