Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and enhance knowledge of cardiac surgery patient through educational opportunities.
- Meet departmental and hospital expectations of growth goals set forth in performance appraisal document.
- Participate in departmental and hospital activities to strengthen cardiac surgery service.
- Model and uphold customer service focus to all cardiac surgery patients and families.
- Ensure confidentiality of patient information is maintained.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to reflect excellence in customer service consistent with hospital policy.
- Provide thorough discharge instructions and ensure medication reconciliation.
- Ensure discharge summary is accurate and complete at the time of discharge.
- Establish interventions to decrease the need for emergency services or re-hospitalization.
- Identify and analyze trends in customer service and satisfaction, providing leadership in resolving negative trends.
- Collect clinical data for Surgeon and practice results including volume, risk factor assessment, morbidity, and mortality.
- Interact with the healthcare team for seamless delivery of patient care.
- Serve as direct link between Attending Cardiac Surgeon and Referring Physician for optimal communication.
- Provide information and support to interdisciplinary team members within the hospital.
- Participate in daily rounds and report concerns regarding patient care to the Attending Surgeon.
- Communicate complex medical conditions effectively with healthcare providers and insurance companies.
- Orchestrate the Attending Surgeon's schedule in the operating room and office.

Requirements
Experience: One (1) or two (2) years caring for cardiac surgery patients preferred.
