Position: Patient Care Technician

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $18.00 - $23.50 per hour

Shift: Day Shift: 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists the RN in the delivery of patient care.
  • Maintains a safe patient environment.
  • Sets priority of duties based on needs of patient and unit, under the direction of the RN.
  • Participates in the implementation of individualized plans of care under the direction of the RN.
  • Assists patients in activities of daily living.
  • Accurately obtains patient data and documents all care in the appropriate patient care record.
  • Performs routine procedures, treatments and specimen collections.
  • Demonstrates aseptic technique, when necessary.
  • Assists RN or physician with advanced procedures.
  • Manages uncomplicated tubes and drains.
  • Performs specific patient care procedures such as blood glucose testing, specimen collection, etc.
  • Reports changes in patient condition to the appropriate RN.
  • Assists with admission, discharge, and transport of patients.
  • Transports laboratory specimens and patient belongings as required.
  • Obtains blood products, supplies and equipment as necessary.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of technology, including the telephone and patient call system(s) and EPIC.
  • Documents in real time at the point of care.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly, well equipped environment.
  • Keeps patient rooms and unit orderly, according to guidelines.
  • Orders, organizes, and restocks according to unit specifications.
  • Replenishes patient room supplies.
  • Communicates all pertinent information to the appropriate team member throughout the shift.
  • Demonstrates professional work style in interactions with internal and external customers.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Prior formal clinical training (CMA, CNA, PCT, EMT, corpsman, paramedic, nursing or medical student experience).
  • Ability to solve simple problems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Requirements

Experience:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

License & Certification:

  • Current BLS certification.

Schedule:

  • 36 hours per week (0.9 FTE).
  • 12-Hour Shifts - Weekends Included.
