Job Responsibilities

Provides ongoing psychiatric evaluations of clients after initial evaluation by the program Psychiatrist.
Prescribes medications and provides ongoing assertive medication management to clients.
Pragmatically evaluates options and decides upon treatment course that will optimize safety and community success within situational limits.
Conducts routine staffing with the Psychiatrist, nurses, case managers, and other members of the CSP/TCM treatment team.
Incorporates staff input regarding observations of client’s behaviors and capabilities while prescribing.
Conducts clinical consultations on an as-needed basis and participates in planned interventions.
Participates in treatment planning for consumers as needed.
Documents or dictates results of evaluations in a timely manner.
Orders lab work, testing, or other procedures as needed.
Carries out other job-related duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Good clinical skills related to medical issues, mental illnesses, and substance abuse disorders
Knowledge of DSM V and psychotropic medications and their side effects
Ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff and clients
Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations
Good organizational, dictation, or typing skills
Effective use of time and resources to help maintain quality services

Preferred Skills

Requirements

Experience:

Education: Possess Chapter N 8 Certification to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber and registration as a Registered Nurse; completion of continuing education training as required by the board of nursing.
