Job Responsibilities
- Welcome and greet patients and visitors to the unit.
- Demonstrate pleasant, professional communication skills when speaking with patients, visitors, nursing staff, physicians, volunteers and personnel from other departments.
- Answer the phone promptly using proper telephone etiquette and refer calls to the appropriate person.
- Assist visitors in finding patient rooms, staff members, and other resources.
- Facilitate transport of patients at discharge and the patient belongings process.
- Facilitate calls to physician on behalf of nurses and demonstrate correct use of communication systems.
- Check email regularly and post items at the request of nursing leadership.
- Perform follow-up phone calls to patients if requested by nursing leadership.
- Perform customer service rounding and surveys for patients upon request.
- Answer call bells in a timely manner and communicate needs to responsible staff.
- Provide assistance to physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in accurate order entry.
- Promote and encourage CPOE (Computerized Physician Order Entry) usage.
- Monitor frequently for new alerts and other items on electronic work lists.
- Notify nurses promptly of any new orders, discontinued orders, alerts, specimens to be collected, or treatments.
- Manage and maintain patient charts and ensure all forms are properly labeled and filed.
- Assist with metrics and reporting requirements as needed.
- Provide age-appropriate care for the patient population served.
- Bathe patients and provide assistance with hygiene.
- Change bed linens for occupied and unoccupied beds.
- Assist patients with meals and measures and records intake and output.
- Transport patients using safety measures and perform hourly rounds for patient safety.
- Obtain vital signs and weights, communicate patient and unit information to the RN and interdisciplinary care team.
- Document patient care accurately and timely using Soarian and paper documentation forms.
- Promote best practices and contribute to team meetings.
Required Skills

- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
- Certified Nurse Aid certification

- Previous secretarial skills
- Healthcare experience
Requirements
Experience: 0-1 years Training and/or experience at an acute care facility or student nurse with hospital based clinical experience
Education: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
License & Certification:
- Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Certified Nursing Assistant preferred
Schedule:
- 7pm - 7am, every third Saturday and Sunday required
