Job Responsibilities

Provides clinical leadership and compassionate, family-centered care for urgent and emergent patients.
Utilizes effective problem-solving strategies and applies evidence-based practice.
Coordinates and monitors patient flow, supporting throughput from admission, transfer, or discharge.
Identifies clinical strengths and opportunities, re-assigns patient assignments for clinical competency.
Coaches and mentors employees to improve performance and clinical outcomes.
Flexes employees to align with census fluctuations and collaborates with Nursing Leaders for staffing needs.
Promotes cost containment and maintains fiscal performance.
Supports departmental goals and participates in nursing governance council and unit-based committee.
Conducts department huddles and communicates updates and patient perception survey data.
Interacts with patients and families to review physician plans of care and communicates any concerns.
Provides education about disease processes and documents teaching in the electronic health record.
Administers direct patient care and oversees staff delivery of patient care.
Responsible for patient care coordination and outcomes.
Identifies opportunities to improve processes and assists with workflow enhancement projects.
Assists with code blue and emergency response efforts.
Communicates patient progress and changes in condition to appropriate personnel.
Participates in performance reviews through chart reviews.
Ensures adherence to regulatory requirements and department policies.
Conducts audits and ensures accuracy of charge capture.
Supervises and observes behavioral health patients following crisis intervention strategies.

Required Skills

Core Skills

RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact
American Heart Association BLS certification
Crisis Prevention Institute certification
American Heart Association PALS certification
American Heart Association ACLS certification
1-3 years of Registered Nurse experience
Experience as a Charge Nurse

Preferred Skills

BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN program
National certification within 5 years of hire
Pediatric Nursing experience in an acute care setting
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and Word
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to influence and hold self and others accountable in a multidisciplinary team

Requirements

Experience: 1-3 years Registered Nurse experience; experience as a Charge Nurse

Education: BSN degree or currently enrolled in BSN program

License & Certification:

RN Licensure within the State of Florida or Multi-State Enhanced Nursing License Compact
American Heart Association BLS
CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute certificate within 180 days)
American Heart Association PALS (within 1 year of hire)
American Heart Association ACLS (within 1 year of hire)
