Job Responsibilities
- Provides nursing care to students.
- Implements grade level screening program for students.
- Maintains and operates a school clinic.
- Prepares and maintains student and clinic records.
- Performs nursing assessments of each student sent to school health clinic.
- Makes observations and assesses condition, implementing appropriate plan of care for each student examined.
- Counsels students, parents, and/or teachers about observed problems.
- Administers medications and/or treatments, including first-aid.
- Screens students for hearing, vision, height, weight, and blood pressure at appropriate grade levels.
- Refers students for outside medical care as needed.
- Logs information pertaining to student/staff clinic visits and medical care given.
- Provides instruction on nutrition, hygiene, grooming, weight control, first aid, disease prevention, substance abuse, and related health concerns.
- Provides health educational materials and information.
- Provides health counseling to students, parents, and school personnel.
- Maintains records of medication administration and treatments performed.
- Reviews student immunization records to ensure compliance with state immunization laws.
- Maintains immunization records for all students.
- Provides immunizations to students and staff as directed by the School Physician.
- Maintains a neat, attractive clinic and adequate clinic supplies.
- Performs related tasks as required.

- Knowledge of common medical practices, procedures, and techniques related to standard physical examinations.
- Ability to administer medications and apply therapeutic treatments.
- Ability to follow technical oral and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.

Experience:
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Bachelors Degree preferred)

- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse
