Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
Evaluates staffing by considering mix of caregivers, patient volumes, patient acuity and staff availability.
Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills in daily interactions with team members.
Seeks to proactively improve quality of the services provided and patient care outcomes.
Serves as unit champion and resource to staff for quality and patient safety initiatives.
Facilitates and actively participates in service recovery efforts during the shift.
Improves job performance of staff by assisting in personal and professional development.
Provides professional/technical/clinical support for nursing associates.
Troubleshoots issues which arise that require immediate resolution.
Serves as representative for unit or nursing department on committees or task forces as assigned.
Reinforces the organization vision, mission and values through role model behavior.

Experience: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year; 1 year of ICU experience required (prefer Neuro ICU experience)

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred but not required

License & Certification:

Valid current Arizona Nursing License
Required certification in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity
