Job Responsibilities
- Provides care to residents in accordance with the care plan as directed by physician’s orders and in accordance with laws, regulations, and facility guidelines.
- Monitors facility clinical systems to effectively facilitate quality resident care.
- Successfully delivers basic nursing care to residents in accordance with care plans as ordered by a physician.
- Directs and develops RNs, LPNs, and CNAs working on the unit to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
- Conducts ongoing assessments of residents to identify care needs and makes revisions to the care plan based on changes in resident condition.
- Works in conjunction with the ADON and DON to provide resolution of grievances or concerns related to resident care.
- Documents interventions and resident or family education efforts timely and accurately.
- Conducts rounds within the nursing department to assess resident conditions and clinical practices.
- Accurately documents nursing care notes in resident charts in a timely manner.
- Performs medication administration and IV duties in accordance with the care plan.
- Monitors progress of residents and suggests treatment plans to meet care needs.
- Observes resident behavior and reports findings to nursing supervisors.
- Completes resident incident reports upon identifying changes in resident condition.
- Monitors residents’ skin to identify the risk of pressure sores.
- Responsible for a variety of nursing administrative duties.
- Places medication and refill orders with resident pharmacies as needed.
- Takes inventory of narcotics and monitors emergency kits.
- Monitors the emotional and physical conditions of residents.
- Performs shift change reports with previous shift nurses.
- Understands and follows proper procedures for admission, transfer, and discharge of residents.
- May assist in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of qualified team members.
- Provides expectations and monitors performance of nursing staff.
- Delegates assignments and provides overall supervision to nursing staff.
- Effectively communicates guidelines and procedures to nursing staff, residents, families, and physicians.
- Provides overall supervision for timely responses to call lights.
- Assists in providing on-the-job training for new nursing staff.
- Promotes a team environment through effective communication with nursing staff.
- Monitors schedule adherence of staff for shifts and breaks.
- Monitors job performance of nursing staff and provides corrective action as needed.

Requirements
Experience: 1 to 3 years nursing supervisor experience in long-term care or healthcare setting
Education: RN degree from an accredited college or nursing school; current RN licensure within the state of practice; CPR certification required
