Job Responsibilities

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing service department according to state and federal guidelines.
Maintain and review clinical policies and procedures.
Develop and implement a nursing service organization structure.
Determine staffing needs of the nursing service department and make recommendations to the Administrator.
Oversee licensed nursing staff.
Develop work assignments and schedules for nursing supervisor staff.
Develop and maintain an on-call program for the nursing department.
Make daily rounds of each nursing unit and perform visual inspections.
Review satisfaction of care and services through interviews with families and residents.
Assist the Infection Preventionist in establishing and maintaining the Infection Control Program.
Assist the Director of Staff Development in ensuring all mandatory in-service education is performed and documented.
Assist the Administrator in developing safety standards for the nursing department and monitor these standards.
Abide by all reporting policies and measures set forth by Athena Health Care Systems.
Perform other duties assigned by the managerial team.

Preferred Skills

Experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing

Requirements

Experience: At least one (1) year of nursing administration experience.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing, B.S.N. preferred.

License & Certification:

Current, unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts
CPR certified
