Job Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the psychiatric unit.
- Ensure adequate staffing for patient care needs on each shift.
- Meet patients' medical and psychiatric needs, including medication administration and mental status assessments.
- Manage admission and discharge processes, nursing treatment planning, and guest/visitor relations.
- Co-chair the Incident Review Committee and participate in Quality Management processes.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare for surveys by OMH, DNV, and DOH.
- Provide guidance and supervision to nursing staff and conduct performance evaluations.
- Communicate safety principles and ensure adherence to hospital safety regulations.
- Participate in training and development activities in line with hospital policies.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Progressive responsibility in nursing
- Experience in psychiatric care
- Crisis management skills
- Ability to de-escalate patients
Preferred Skills
- Master's in Nursing
- Leadership experience
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance
Requirements
Experience: Minimum of five years progressive responsibility in nursing, psychiatric experience preferred.
Education: Minimum of an RN, BSN. Masters in Nursing preferred.
License & Certification:
- N.Y. State RN License required.
