Demonstrates competency with specific clinical skills and techniques listed in the department/unit skills list.
Provides patient care according to the Nursing Process under the direction of the RN.
Performs treatments and procedures in compliance with hospital/nursing policies and procedures under the RN's direction.
Administers medication according to hospital/nursing procedures.
Assists in admitting patients by orienting them to the hospital routine.
Responds promptly and courteously to any patient call light.
Maintains patient rooms and department work areas in a neat, clean, and well-supplied manner.
Assists the RN in patient teaching.
Demonstrates correct and safe techniques in the use of patient equipment.
Recognizes life-threatening situations and emergencies, taking appropriate actions in a timely manner.
Actively participates in the implementation and monitoring of unit-based Quality Assurance standards of care.
Performs other related duties as assigned within the framework of licensure.

Successful completion of a hospital-approved pharmacology course within 6 months of hire

Experience: Entry Level

Education: High School plus completion of Accredited Practical Nursing Program

License & Certification:

Licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Wisconsin
Current BLS and/or CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
