Position: Ambulatory Care Nurse - NYU Langone Surgical Oncology Associates

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic tests
  • Collect patient health history
  • Record information in electronic health record
  • Provide information, counsel, and education to patients and families regarding test results and treatment plans as directed
  • Administer medications (including vaccination, IV therapy, oxygen administration)
  • Provide comprehensive wound care
  • Perform phone and in-person patient triage for clinical concerns
  • Assess and monitor patient responses to various treatments, procedures, and anesthesia
  • Consult with clinical supervisors and licensed providers to determine best treatment plans for patients
  • Direct, supervise, and delegate to licensed practical nurses, medical assistants and technicians as needed
  • Support quality initiatives and compliance with Patient Safety initiatives
  • Participate in clinical inquiry and activities to foster evidence-based practice
  • Provide emergency care in accordance with organizational policy
  • Engage in self-assessment and participate in activities to promote own professional growth

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Registered Nurse License in New York
  • Basic Life Support Certification
  • Knowledge of nursing practice and clinical policies
  • Ability to assess and interpret patient information
  • Clinical documentation skills

Preferred Skills

  • ACLS certification
  • Membership in pertinent professional organizations

Requirements

Experience: One year experience required for Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing

Education: Baccalaureate degree in Nursing highly preferred; a Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing requires a minimum of one year experience

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License-NYS
  • Basic Life Support Certification through American Heart Association
