Job Responsibilities

Provide Clinical site education to students enrolled at the assigned Workforce Development Program site.
Utilize principles of teaching that recognize the characteristics of the adult learner.
Plan and supervise student clinical experience in assigned health care facilities.
Evaluate student performance in relation to clinical learning outcomes according to Unitek College policies and procedures.
Provide feedback on clinical performance or specific events in a timely manner after observation.
Maintain student records including accurate clinical and/or skills lab attendance and completed skills check-off forms.
Ensure clinical assignments meet both student and facility needs.
Determine best methods to observe, instruct, and evaluate students.
Continuously improve the quality of instruction.
Demonstrate or acquire skills for utilizing online activities to enhance course content/material.
Submit required program reports and forms to the Academic Site Director in a timely manner.
Stay current with innovative technologies and safety regulations.
Participate in committee activities that support the mission and function of the nursing program.
Attend faculty meetings.
Provide access to students for ongoing communication through office hours or electronic communication.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience teaching nursing courses
Clinical competence in specific nursing areas such as Mental Health, Medical-Surgical, Geriatrics, Pediatrics, L&D, Community Health, and Critical Care

Requirements

Experience: Minimum four years, with one year in the last five years as a registered nurse providing direct patient care; one-year experience teaching nursing preferred.

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university, BSN and currently enrolled in a Master’s program may be considered for a Clinical Teaching Assistant.

License & Certification:

Valid, unencumbered license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing
Eligible for approval by CA BRN as Instructor for Medical-Surgical, OB, Pediatrics, Mental Health, Community Health, or Geriatrics

Schedule:

Clinical rotations can be days, evenings, weekends.
