Job Responsibilities

Conduct thorough patient assessments, review medical histories, and provide education on surgical procedures and recovery expectations.
Assist the surgical team by maintaining sterile techniques, passing instruments, and monitoring patient vitals during procedures.
Oversee patient recovery, manage pain, and monitor for complications, ensuring a safe transition from anesthesia.
Offer guidance to patients and families on postoperative care, including wound care, medication management, and activity restrictions.
Maintain accurate and timely patient records, including surgical notes and postoperative evaluations.
Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure seamless surgical operations.
Adhere to infection control protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements to uphold the clinic's high-quality care standards.
Monitor and manage surgical supplies and equipment, ensuring availability and compliance with safety standards.

Required Skills

Preferred Skills

Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR)

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a surgical or perioperative nursing role; experience in an outpatient or ambulatory surgery center is advantageous.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable.

License & Certification:

Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Iowa
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
