Position: Clinical Documentation Specialist

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $39.00 - $65.00 / hour

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8 hour shifts

Job Responsibilities

  • Complete concurrent and secondary chart reviews of targeted patient populations to identify opportunities to improve accuracy of provider documentation and selection of diagnosis and procedure codes for accurate DRG assignment.
  • Conduct accurate and timely concurrent record reviews, recognizing opportunities for documentation improvement through specialized training and software.
  • Utilize available resources to formulate clinically credible documentation clarification questions for members of the clinical team to improve the accuracy of the documentation process.
  • Provide subject matter expertise related to DRG, clinical documentation opportunities and requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between acute care coding and Providers to capture accurate DRG, SOI, ROM, risk adjustment, reimbursement, and complexity of patient care rendered.
  • Ensure data integrity of the clinical documentation database through compliant, accurate entries and case reconciliation.
  • Educate customers through presentations and reports on clinical documentation opportunities and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Perform advanced case reviews based on patient complexity and/or productivity per program standards.
  • Interact extensively with providers, HIMS professionals, nursing, and other ancillary staff.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care experience and 2 years of CDI experience.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in state of residence
