Job Responsibilities

Assess human responses and plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
Provide transformational leadership in a professional practice setting.
Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
Assign or delegate tasks based on the needs of the patient and skill level of the RN, LPN, or support staff.
Assign duties and lunches for staff when performing charge role.
Consider maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of intervention, and predictability of outcome.
Provide peers with verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
Share knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues to cultivate a positive work environment.
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care or health services.

Assure appropriate order sets are used.
Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement a patient plan of care.
Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers.
Analyze the health status of individuals and families to determine patient care needs.
Assess patient reports/records of changes in condition, notify physician or supervisor, and intervene appropriately.
Accept assignments in areas other than primary unit and perform duties within individualized competency.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous lifelong learning and professional development.
Participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback regarding one’s own practice.
Identify areas of strength and areas in which professional development would be beneficial.
Meet time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy.
Continuously evaluate and assess patient and family satisfaction.
