Job Responsibilities

Provide patient care under the direct supervision of Hemodialysis Registered Nurse for assigned patient(s) in the dialysis suite in the acute setting.
Report and document all new and unusual incidents, information, complaints, or problems to the RN.
Promote and assist in the maintenance of a safe and clean working environment.
Support the FMCNA commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and actively participate in process improvement activities.
Set up and prime equipment for renal replacement therapies as directed by the Fresenius Nurse.
Ensure the dialysis machine is set up, tested, and safe for treatment in accordance with company policy.
Welcome assigned patients and report any complaints or observations to the FMCNA RN.
Obtain necessary pre and post treatment vital signs and weight.
Report unusual findings and difficulties in cannulation to FMCNA RN.
Document patient treatment information accurately in the individual patient record.
Calculate and enter dialysis machine programming for individual patients as prescribed.
Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled on the dialysis machine.
Collect and label specimens, ensuring timely delivery to the laboratory.
Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide interventions as prescribed.
Monitor patient response to dialysis therapy and report unusual findings to FMCNA RN.
Evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access and apply appropriate dressings.
Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor or supervising RN.
Review and comply with the Code of Business Conduct and applicable regulations.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Effective communication skills - verbal and written

Preferred Skills

Experience as EMT, Surgical Technicians, Army, Phlebotomists, or technicians
Ability to obtain CCHT within 18 months of hire

Requirements

Experience: At least 6 months’ experience preferred in related field.

Education: High School Diploma required.

License & Certification:

CCHT within 18 months of hire
