Job Responsibilities

Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
Evaluates staffing based on mix of caregivers, patient volumes, patient acuity, and staff availability.
Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills in daily interactions with team members.
Seeks to proactively improve quality of services provided and patient care outcomes.
Serves as unit champion and resource for quality and patient safety initiatives.
Facilitates service recovery efforts during the shift.
Improves job performance of staff through preceptor training and role modeling.
Provides professional, technical, clinical, and coaching support for nursing associates.
Assists with quality projects and staff annual performance evaluations.
Troubleshoots issues requiring immediate resolution and informs nurse manager/director of circumstances.
Takes patient care assignment on shifts not in clinical lead/charge nurse role.
Serves as representative for unit or nursing department on committees or task forces as assigned.
Reinforces organization vision, mission, and values through role model behavior.

Requirements

Experience: 1 year of clinical experience as an RN required; 1 year of ICU experience required (prefer Neuro ICU experience)

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred, not required

License & Certification:

Valid current Arizona Nursing License
Required certification in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity

Schedule:

Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays, and/or weekends
