Job Title: Nurse Practitioner (NP) Traveler, Advertised in Santa Fe, NM

Position: Healthcare Professional conducting assessments and providing care.

Job Type: Full time

Pay: Competitive hourly rate

Shift: Day, night, weekday, weekend, and holidays; 30-40+ hours/week

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct basic screening assessments and provide healthcare services to individuals detained by Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
  • Work under the medical direction of the National Medical Director and Physician Supervisors.
  • Provide health care services for persons of all ages, including infants, children, adults, and pregnant females.
  • Comfortably work in a detention setting with varying facilities.
  • Consult with Supervising Physician for complex medical cases.
  • Perform history and physical assessments, behavioral health care, and minor outpatient procedures.
  • Conduct patient education and refer patients for care beyond the unit's scope.
  • Maintain compliance with DHS and CBP policies and accreditation standards.
  • Assist in the disposal of biologically hazardous waste.
  • Provide direct care within the scope of practice to diverse populations.
  • Participate in disease surveillance activities.
  • Communicate end of shift reports to the oncoming shift.
  • Participate in Medical Quality Management/Risk Management activities.
  • Travel to various medical units within the sector/region as required.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Direct patient care including emergency and urgent care.
  • Assessment skills and ability to perform clinical procedures.
  • Knowledge of drugs and therapeutics.
  • Maintaining patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in detention/correctional and/or pediatric settings.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Requirements

Experience: Minimum of one year in direct patient care (detention or correctional healthcare preferred).

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nurse Practitioner studies.

License & Certification:

  • Current active Nurse Practitioner license.
  • Board Certification (ANCC, AANP, PCNB, NCC, AANPCB, or AACN).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Schedule:

  • Flexibility to work day/night/weekend shifts.
  • Willingness to travel and work onsite at various medical units.
