Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Nurse Manager and nursing leadership team to support the mission, vision, values and strategic initiatives of Jackson Health System.
- Improve employee engagement through collaboration and accountability.
- Hold staff accountable and conduct one-on-one meetings with staff.
- Acknowledge team members for great performance.
- Participate actively in LEAN/Process improvement workgroups.
- Lead structured huddles before shifts and assist in resolving staff issues with the Unions.
- Contribute to staff retention by providing supportive relationships and mentoring.
- Responsible for the growth and development of employees and daily operations of assigned shift.
- Participate in corrective action processes and ensure fair enforcement of policies.
- Use the nursing process to provide, modify, and coordinate high standards of care and patient/family education.
- Anticipate, identify, prioritize, and report significant patient findings and inconsistencies.
- Round on patients consistently and monitor bedside handoffs.
- Educate employees including clinical competencies, orientation of new staff, and mentoring current staff.
- Assume 24/7 responsibility in the absence of the nurse manager.
- Collaborate with the Nurse Manager and Director on formulating short and long-term goals.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all providers.
- Evaluate performance of direct reports focusing on results and development needs.
- Collaborate with leaders to recruit and orient new employees.
- Promote the Mission, Vision, philosophy, and CARE values of the organization.
- Analyze healthcare trends and suggest patient care standard improvements.
- Participate in budgetary planning and monitor to maintain monthly budget.
- Complete monthly schedules to ensure adequate staffing.
- Review and approve time cards and manage staffing regularly.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Strong leadership and management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of nursing policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Clinical skills in Critical Care/ICU nursing
Preferred Skills
- Experience with LEAN/process improvement methodologies
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in budgeting and cost management
Requirements
Experience: Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience; management experience strongly preferred; at least 4 years of Critical Care/ICU Nursing Experience highly preferred.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
License & Certification:
- Valid Florida RN license
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and any additional applicable life support certification
