Job Responsibilities
- Performs direct and indirect patient care activities under the supervision of a registered professional nurse.
- Assists in providing high quality, cost-effective care by performing delegated tasks.
- Interacts proactively with patients, families, and other customers to ensure a family-centered experience.
- Provides basic physical care to promote patient comfort as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living in a timely manner.
- Safely transports patients to tests and procedures and escorts them for discharge.
- Transports specimens and items throughout the facility.
- Conducts assigned tests such as glucose monitoring, urine, and stool testing, maintaining quality control testing & logs.
- Performs routine phlebotomy services, excluding line draws.
- Records patient vital signs including temperatures, pulse rates, respiratory rates, blood pressures, and weights according to policy.
- Provides respiratory support and encourages the usage of Incentive Spirometer.
- Observes and reports any patient concerns or changes in condition to a registered nurse.
- Prepares patients for examinations and assists physicians and nurses as needed.
- Assists with basic rehab/Physical Therapy activities.
- Communicates with the RN regarding nutrition issues.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment to help prevent/control infections.
- Cleans assigned unit equipment and reports necessary repairs promptly.
- Assists in routine unit operations to ensure smooth communication and functioning of the unit.
- Answers telephone and patient call bells courteously and relays messages in a timely manner.

- Prior patient care experience
Requirements
Experience: Preferred patient care experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
License & Certification:
- Certification in Basic Life Support or HeartSaver First Aid within 30 days of hire
