Job Responsibilities

Supports, evaluates, prioritizes, and supervises patient care and unit needs during assigned shift.
Serves as designee for unit matters in nurse manager/director absence.
Makes assignments for staff to meet patient care needs and for incoming patients.
Monitors effectiveness and completion of unit assignments.
Evaluates staffing considering mix of caregivers, patient volumes, patient acuity, and staff availability.
Demonstrates timely and effective communication skills in daily interactions.
Seeks to proactively improve quality of services and patient care outcomes.
Serves as unit champion and resource for quality and patient safety initiatives.
Facilitates exceptional customer service and participates in service recovery efforts.
Improves job performance of staff through preceptor training and role modeling.
Assists with quality projects and staff annual performance evaluations.
Troubleshoots issues requiring immediate resolution keeping nurse manager/director informed.
Takes patient care assignment as needed, serves as preceptor or in other roles.
Represents unit or nursing department on committees/task forces as assigned.
Reinforces the organization vision, mission, and values through role model behavior.

Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act
Basic computer skills

Requirements

Experience: Must have functioned in an RN role for a minimum of 1 year; 1 year of ICU experience required (prefer Neuro ICU experience)

Education: Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred not required

License & Certification:

Valid current Arizona Nursing License
Required in area of clinical specialty within 3 years from ANCC or other approved credentialing entity (i.e. critical care: CCRN)

Schedule:

Must be able to work variable shifts, holidays, and/or weekends
