Job Responsibilities
- Uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population as it relates to the care setting.
- Provides nursing care to the population served in the unit.
- Adheres to infection prevention guidelines and policies to deliver safe and optimal care.
- Assesses patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status.
- Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff, and others during the continuum of care.
- Maintains regulatory compliance consistent with quality standards and ethical obligations.
- Participates in activities aligning with the Magnet Model and organizational activities.
- Acts as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner.
- Provides age-specific individualized care that supports protection from harm.
- Educates patients and families throughout the care of the patient.
- Utilizes resources economically and safely administers medications.
- Plans patient care in collaboration with the assigned Mother/Baby Nurse.
- Identifies breastfeeding problems and formulates desired outcomes.
- Documents breastfeeding assessments and interventions in the medical record.
- Controls bleeding with medications and monitors their effects following cesarean sections.
- Identifies and manages high-risk pregnancies.
- Provides comprehensive care of the mother/infant dyad.
- Ensures infant security and monitors the environment for safety.
- Administers emergency measures for newborn adaptation.
- Provides immunization for the prevention of communicable diseases.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Registered Nurse License
- BCLS or ACLS Certification
- Expertise in breastfeeding and postpartum care
- Critical thinking and care planning
Preferred Skills
- ACLS within six months of hire
- NRP certification
- Experience in high-risk pregnancy care
Requirements

Education: College Diploma in Nursing
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License
- BCLS or ACLS Certification
- ACLS within six months of hire from the AHA
- NRP certification
