Job Responsibilities
- Uses the nursing process to deliver nursing care to a given patient care population.
- Adheres to infection prevention guidelines.
- Assesses patient history, physiological, and psychosocial status.
- Communicates with the patient, family, medical staff, and others during the continuum of care.
- Participates in activities in alignment with the Magnet Model and organizational activities.
- Maintains regulatory compliance consistent with quality standards and ethical obligations of the profession.
- Participates in Peer Review and professional development activities.
- Performs as a preceptor in an active and engaged manner.
- Provides age-specific individualized care and ensures patient safety centered interventions.
- Uses critical thinking to formulate and implement a care plan according to patient needs.
- Utilizes safe administration of medications and safe patient handling.
- Plans patient care in collaboration with the assigned Mother/Baby Nurse.
- Communicates breastfeeding assessments and plans of care with bedside nurse for continuity.
- Documents breastfeeding assessments and interventions in the medical record.
- Assists mothers with proper positioning for breastfeeding and provides ongoing teaching.
- Controls bleeding with medications and monitors the effects.
- Identifies and manages high-risk pregnancies.
- Provides comprehensive care of the mother/infant dyad and manages infant security.
- Assesses and addresses the learning needs of mothers regarding newborn and postpartum care.
- Administers emergency measures to support newborn adaptation to extrauterine life.
- Educates and provides resources for parents regarding immunization history.
- Assists family in understanding and promoting the development of their children.
- Constructs patient care activities to enhance desired outcomes in a cost-effective manner.

Requirements
Experience:
Education: College Diploma in nursing
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License
- BCLS or ACLS Certification
- ACLS within six months of hire
- NRP certification
