Job Responsibilities
- Follows policies and procedures and demonstrates ability to access online manuals and references.
- Appropriately completes nursing assessment and screening upon patient encounter via telephone or in clinic.
- Interprets assessment information and formulates nursing diagnosis.
- Maintains problem list, medication list, and allergies list when indicated.
- Administers medications as ordered and completes re-assessments as indicated.
- Completes patient care procedures correctly per policy.
- Delegates tasks based on others’ scope of practice and competency.
- Acts as patient advocate.
- Ensures documentation is complete and correct on all encounters.
- Accepts patient disability/EDD/FMLA paperwork and collaborates with Providers to return to patients in a timely manner.
- Provides patient and family education as needed based on diagnosis or treatment plan.
- Maintains B/P & Vitals machine and identifies defective equipment.
- Communicates effectively with healthcare team members and patients/families.
- Manages time effectively and organizes responsibilities.
- Observes regulatory agency requirements including National Patient Safety Goals.
- Identifies and participates in data collection and process improvements.
- Participates in professional hospital/nursing activities such as relief charge nurse and nursing committees.
- Assesses a patient’s knowledge base/understanding of their diagnostic procedure.
- Plans course of testing/treatment in coordination with physician.
- Educates patient/patient’s family about procedure and treatment according to individual needs.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Excellent communication skills including proficiency in English.
- Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions.
- Ability to understand, follow and successfully perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures.
Preferred Skills
- 1 year experience in non-invasive Cardiology setting.
- 0-1 year experience with Vascular patients/procedures.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
Requirements
Experience: 1 - 2 years experience as RN.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) or grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
- Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) - Required within LA City.
