Job Responsibilities

Demonstrates effective assessment skills to ensure quality patient care is provided.
Performs and documents accurate initial assessment per unit standard including initial observation, obtaining and interpreting information regarding patient needs, safety, discharge planning, psych/social/cultural, family needs, and multi-system physical assessment.
Reports appropriate information in a timely manner to responsible physician.
Observes and monitors patient lab work for trends and reports abnormal lab tests to the appropriate physician, obtaining appropriate interventions.
Utilizes clinical data to implement appropriate interventions.
Performs and documents ongoing patient assessment reflecting physical and mental status according to unit standards and patient condition.
Initiates use of restraints per hospital policy and procedures while demonstrating commitment to using safe and appropriate alternatives prior to application.
Maintains competency in the application, monitoring, and care of patients in restraints.
Demonstrates critical-thinking skills when analyzing basic and advanced cardiac rhythms.
Develops, prioritizes, and documents an individualized plan of care involving the patient, family, and/or significant other from admission to discharge.
Demonstrates knowledge in preparation of patients for tests, procedures, and surgeries.
Provides individualized goal-directed nursing care utilizing the nursing process and standards.
Documents physical assessments in the electronic medical record.
Assesses patients for desired and undesired changes in their mental/physical condition and reports findings appropriately.
Maintains a professional rapport with physicians, patients, and families.
Provides necessary education to patients and families from admission through discharge.
Initiates referrals to healthcare providers as necessary.

Required Skills

Core Skills

Active Colorado RN license or active multi-state RN license
Current AHA BLS certification
Current AHA ACLS certification
Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nursing experience in acute care

Preferred Skills

Experience in circulating kidney and liver cases

Requirements

Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nursing experience in acute care

Education: Associates Degree from an accredited school of nursing

License & Certification:

Active Colorado RN license
Current AHA BLS certification
Current AHA ACLS certification

Schedule:

7am-7pm
Heavy call requirements including 7P-7A Monday-Friday and 24/7 coverage on weekends
