Job Responsibilities
- Functions as part of the hemodialysis health care team to ensure quality patient care.
- Directs Patient Care Technician’s provision of hemodialysis therapy in compliance with standards.
- Delegates tasks to patient care staff including LVN/LPNs and Dialysis Assistants.
- Assesses daily patient care needs and develops appropriate assignments.
- Monitors patient care staff for adherence to policies and procedures.
- Participates in staff training and orientation of new staff.
- Ensures educational needs of patients and family regarding End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) are met.
- Provides ongoing education regarding renal disease and dialysis therapy.
- Discusses dietary, fluid, and medication compliance with patients.
- Implements treatment prescriptions and assesses patient responses to hemodialysis treatment.
- Communicates patient-related issues to Team Leader or physician.
- Ensures accurate documentation by Patient Care Technician on treatment sheets.
- Reviews, transcribes, and enters physician lab orders into the Medical Information System.
- Ensures appropriate lab requisition preparation and follow-up.
- Maintains overall shift operations and serves as a resource for other staff members.
- Collaborates with healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment in the dialysis facility treatment area.
- Ensures compliance with all company policies and regulations.

- Ability to assess and monitor patient care
- Knowledge of lab procedures and medical information systems
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a healthcare setting
- Basic understanding of medical and pharmaceutical terminology
Requirements
Experience: 0 - 1 year’s related experience
Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
License & Certification:
- Current appropriate state Temporary Permit
