Job Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians in daily activities such as preparing patients for examination, phlebotomy, injections, and assisting providers with medication entries.
  • Document all lab, procedures, and appointments on tracking forms.
  • Complete tracking forms and follow up on missed appointments and procedures.
  • Assist Health Coaches by working patient lists and scheduling appointments as directed.
  • Provide patient and family education to ensure adequate knowledge and awareness.
  • Perform telephone triage to determine patient needs and report condition to provider.
  • Maintain work areas to ensure healthy environmental conditions.
  • Handle prescription renewals and inquiries to facilitate patient care.
  • Prepare exam rooms and equipment for patient examinations.
  • Assist providers by retrieving tests and medical records and obtaining lab work as directed.
  • Dispense medications at the direction of providers to patients.
  • Assist and perform phlebotomy with proper labeling and handling of specimens.
  • Ensure accuracy of order entry and complete appropriate documentation.
  • Answer calls according to protocol and provide test results.

Requirements

Experience: 6 months previous medical assistant experience preferred.

Education: High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required; Completion from an accredited Medical Assistant program required.

License & Certification:

  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

Schedule:

  • Full time 40hrs/week, Variable days and hours (*no weekends or holidays required*)
