Job Responsibilities

Assess human responses and plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for individuals or families.
Provide leadership in a professional practice setting.
Contribute to building the team by helping others succeed through role modeling and mentoring.
Assign or delegate tasks based on the needs of the patient and skill level of the RN, LPN or support staff.
Assign duties and lunches for staff when performing charge role.
Consider maintenance of a safe environment, patient condition, complexity of the intervention and predictability of the outcome.
Provide peers with both verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance.
Share knowledge and skills with peers and colleagues.

Ensure appropriate order sets are used.
Supervise, delegate, and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate.
Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate and implement a patient plan of care.

Analyze the health status of individuals and families to determine patient care needs.
Assess patient reports/records change of condition, notify physician and/or supervisor and intervene appropriately.
Accept assignments in areas other than primary unit, performing duties within individualized competency.
Demonstrate a commitment to continuous lifelong learning for self and others.
Promote advancement of the profession through participation in professional organizations.
Seek both formal and independent learning activities to maintain and develop clinical skills and knowledge.
Participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback regarding one's own practice.

Meet time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy.
