Job Responsibilities
- Manage financial, material, and human resources in nursing care provision.
- Advise the Director on hiring, retention, interviewing, and recruitment of staff.
- Maintain appropriate personnel records.
- Develop and implement ongoing educational programs for staff.
- Provide ongoing feedback concerning job performance through evaluations.
- Counsel and discipline employees under the direction of the Director.
- Monitor personnel and expense budgets, justifying variances to the Director.
- Prepare annual budget recommendations for the cost center.
- Optimize utilization of resources to achieve productivity and cost-effective staffing.
- Communicate effectively with physicians and other personnel for problem resolution.
- Promote customer satisfaction by responding to service perceptions.
- Establish and implement a unit culture responsive to patients and families.
- Serve as a resource to Quality Improvement teams.
- Assist in disseminating information at staff meetings and in-services.
- Monitor expense and human resource funds for cost effectiveness.
- Maintain communication with Medical Staff, patients, and departments.
- Assess patient/family satisfaction issues through daily rounds.
- Ensure adherence to standards and policies set by WVU Medicine.
- Facilitate professional development of personnel.
- Oversee staff orientation, training, and continuing education.
- Plan, organize, implement, and evaluate nursing care delivery.
- Participate in outreach activities in the community.

Requirements
Experience: Four (4) years nursing experience with at least two years management experience.
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
License & Certification:
- Registered Professional Nurse licensure with the WV Board or appropriate state board
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire
