Monitors, recognizes, and interprets cardiac rhythms while identifying deviations in patients' baseline and changes in SP02.
Notifies the registered nurse of changes to a patient's status.
Initiates the appropriate emergency response by the critical care team in the event of a lethal arrhythmia.
Identifies and corrects for artifacts.
Records information in patient's log and maintains accurate records of patient's cardiac monitoring status.
Updates patient's records with all readings taken from the heart monitor or EKGs.
Attaches electrodes to patients' bodies to record electrical impulses for continuous ECG monitoring.
Documents electrocardiograph tracings of patients on telemetry monitors.
Performs continual and simultaneous surveillance of complex cardiac monitoring systems.
Identifies arrhythmias, deviations from each patient's baseline, and signs of patient deterioration.
Reports abnormal changes in patient's telemetry monitoring to nursing staff or immediate supervisor.
Activates emergency response for lethal arrhythmia or cardiac arrest.

Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience required after completion of the Monitor Technician Extern program.

Education: Successful completion of ECG/EKG interpretation coursework.
