Job Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care as outlined in the patient’s plan of care or as directed by the overseeing role.
- Consults with the Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist for guidance in delivering nursing care as necessary.
- Performs designated therapeutic procedures to assigned patients as needed.
- Accurately observes, records, and reports all patient concerns, symptoms, reactions, and progress in a timely manner.
- Assists physicians and the overseeing role with examinations and procedures as assigned.
- Contributes to the nursing assessment by collecting, reporting, and recording objective and subjective data.
- Observes conditions or changes in patient condition, records signs and symptoms of deviations from normal health status, and reports findings.
- Participates in the development of the patient’s plan of care by providing data and helping to identify priorities and measures to maintain comfort.
- Assists in patient and family education and rehabilitation by reviewing patient needs with the overseeing role and following the teaching plan.
- Documents nursing interventions and responses to care, communicating appropriately with the healthcare team.
- Accurately and safely administers medications (IM, subcutaneous, IV, oral, nebulization, MDI) as assigned.
- Obtains instruction and supervision from the overseeing role when implementing nursing techniques or practices.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Ability to work successfully under highly stressful conditions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Skilled with computer systems in healthcare settings
- Ability to function as a team member
Preferred Skills
- One (1) year clinical experience
- Basic Life Support certification
Requirements
Experience: One (1) year clinical experience preferred
Education: Current unencumbered licensure with the WV Board of Practical Nursing
License & Certification:
- Licensure as a practical nurse
- Basic Life Support certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire
Schedule:
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and all shifts
