Job Responsibilities

Manage comprehensive and individualized care for cardiology/electrophysiology patients and their families in the inpatient phase of hospitalization and immediate post discharge in the ambulatory setting.
Complete daily rounds; consult and/or pre-procedure evaluations.
Participate in electrophysiology conduction studies including management/monitoring of implantable devices.
Complete integrated assessments and, with collaboration of cardiology/electrophysiology faculty, order additional tests or consults as deemed appropriate.
Perform and communicate results of diagnostic tests following established clinical guidelines and scope of practice.
Consult and communicate with clinic and hospital staff regarding abnormal findings in the evaluations of patients.
Perform succinct comprehensive clinical evaluations and document findings in the medical record.
Develop a comprehensive individualized plan of care for cardiology/electrophysiology patients, including teaching, discharge planning, and ongoing monitoring of implantable devices.
Identify unstable or complex cardiology/electrophysiology patient care situations and facilitate appropriate interventions.
Recognize emergency situations and initiate effective emergency care.
Evaluate cardiology/electrophysiology patients and serve as a coordinator for follow-up procedures and tests in the ambulatory setting.
Assist in the collection of outcome measures as applicable.
Demonstrate critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision-making.
Provide educational programs to professional and paraprofessional personnel in area of expertise.
Participate in community programs and distribution of literature as appropriate in the area of expertise.
Document plan of care, interventions and evaluations in a clear and concise manner for every patient visit.
Collaborate with leaders and staff to effectively achieve patient outcome-based improvements in care.
Provide leadership in the development and implantation of changes in the cardiology/electrophysiology practice.
Initiate inter-disciplinary approaches to patient care, program development and education.

Preferred Skills

AGACNP certification for Nurse Practitioners
Cardiology/electrophysiology or acute care experience
Educational background and experience in teaching nursing staff, hospital staff, students, and patients

Requirements

Experience: Preferably in cardiology/electrophysiology or acute care; eligible new graduates will be considered.

Education: Graduate of a CCNE accredited nursing program with Master’s Degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners; Bachelor's or Master's Degree as Physician Assistant required.

License & Certification:

National Certification from recognized APRN Certification Centers for Nurse Practitioners
Licensure as a professional Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in West Virginia for Nurse Practitioners
Certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants for Physician Assistants
American Heart Association BLS Certification
