Job Responsibilities
- Perform professional nursing care for patients in a clinic setting, including nursing triage and nurse visits.
- Initiate, plan, and evaluate nursing care and treatment plans.
- Provide direction to licensed and unlicensed clinic staff.
- Perform a nursing assessment and patient triage, prioritizing cases and providing medical advice.
- Make complex referrals and provide test results.
- Handle patient telephone inquiries and walk-ins requesting care.
- Record medical histories using appropriate format.
- Take and record physiological measurements such as height, weight, temperature, and urinalysis.
- Perform basic in-clinic laboratory tests, obtaining and processing specimens for outside laboratory analysis.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as injections, skin tests, phlebotomy, and dressing changes.
- Assist physicians during examinations as needed.
- Instruct patients in general and specific medical care and health issues.
- Provide skilled nursing services and treatment, including administering and/or dispensing medication and injections.
- Coordinate day-to-day clinic activities and train other clinic staff.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies, medications, controlled drugs, and equipment.
- Perform quality control activities for medical instruments and equipment.
- Assist assigned R.N.s in overseeing clinical programs such as tuberculosis, hepatitis B, and immunizations.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Bilingual/bicultural in an Asian language.
- Knowledge of nursing protocols and community health care.
Preferred Skills
- Commitment to working in the Asian community.
- Familiarity with community health clinics.
Requirements
Experience: One year of professional nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Education: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing.
License & Certification:
- California Registered Nurse license
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification
