Job Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care when and where appropriate.
  • Implements care thoroughly, skillfully, consistently, and continuously.
  • Establishes priorities for patient care based on essential patient needs and available unit resources.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
  • Demonstrates awareness of and sensitivity to patient/family rights, age-specific needs, and cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Provides/coordinates care for patients/patient populations.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Acknowledges staff rights and cultural and ethical beliefs.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care given by healthcare team members.
  • Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles as identified within the institution.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient care situations following established protocols.

  • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions.
  • Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in resolving staffing issues.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities.
  • Performs other related duties as necessary.
  • Fulfills expectations established for specialty/extended role if applicable.

Required Skills

Core Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms in English
  • Good interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills

  • Certification in specialty preferred.

Requirements

Experience: 1 year recent experience in oncology practice, including ability to work with chemotherapeutic agents.

Education: High School Diploma/GED; Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program or licensed vocational nursing program with required clinical experience.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Basic Life Support
