Job Responsibilities

  • Performs assessment/data collection in an on-going systematic manner focusing on physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive status.
  • Formulates a goal-directed plan of care when and where appropriate.
  • Implements care in a thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous manner.
  • Establishes priorities for patient care based on essential needs and available resources.
  • Identifies patient/family learning needs and acts to meet them.
  • Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to patient/family rights and cultural beliefs.
  • Provides/coordinates care for patients/patient populations.
  • Establishes effective working relationships with healthcare team members, patients, and families.
  • Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties of healthcare team members.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of care provided by healthcare team members.
  • Utilizes effective communication methods and skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and applies safety principles.
  • Performs efficiently in emergency patient care situations following established protocols.
  • Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for professional practice.
  • Participates regularly in staff development activities.

  • Participates in unit and Department Performance Improvement activities.

  • Provides data for staffing decisions and demonstrates flexibility in staffing issues.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in computers and telecommunication modalities for documentation.
  • Documents patient care and unit activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Formulates a goal-directed care plan based on nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
  • If no qualified candidate, may be willing to train in designated specialty areas.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the RN scope of practice
  • Effective written and oral communication skills in English
  • Good interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • PALS certification within six months of hire if caring for pediatric population

Requirements

Experience: Two years recent experience in PACU, Critical Care, or Emergency Department or completion of a PACU Training Program within the past 12 months.

Education: High School Diploma/GED, Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program, or currently enrolled in an accredited entry-level MSN program.

License & Certification:

  • Registered Nurse License (California)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Schedule:

  • Must be able to take call and respond within required hospital response time.
