Job Responsibilities

  • Uphold Kaiser Permanente's Policies and Procedures, Principles of Responsibilities, and applicable laws.
  • Serve as a leader of the health care team; delegate tasks appropriately and demonstrate accountability.
  • Understand own and team members' scope of practice and escalate issues as appropriate.
  • Demonstrate professional, supportive behavior and champion new ideas.
  • Lead and direct others through the change process and utilize communication strategies for intended outcomes.
  • Participate in problem identification and resolution.
  • Mentor, orient, and coach others in unit specific operations and patient care activities.
  • Share responsibility and authority with subordinates and hold them accountable for performance.
  • Prioritize, delegate, and supervise work assignments to ensure completion of patient care activities.
  • Comply with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Develop and contribute to the individualized plan of care, ensuring multidisciplinarity and cultural appropriateness.
  • Monitor patient progress based on care plans and revise as necessary.
  • Ensure effective development and completion of discharge plans and patient education.
  • Document accurately in a timely manner, reflecting nursing processes and evaluations.
  • Discuss patient findings and progress with physicians and other team members.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities.
  • Adhere to workplace safety principles and maintain a safe environment.
  • Provide excellent customer service by promptly responding to patient needs and requests.
  • Act as a resource, preceptor, and mentor to new employees and team members.
  • Attend all mandatory meetings and participate in professional development activities.
  • Organize work to minimize the use of overtime and assist in systems improvement.
