Job Responsibilities

  • Complete screening and rooming of patients.
  • Provide direct support to providers in injection clinic and physical exams.
  • Perform clinic operation activities such as chart scrubbing, patient reminder calls, and responding to secure messaging.
  • Demonstrate independent technical judgment and comprehensive knowledge of complex practices and procedures.
  • Assist RN and/or Provider in prioritizing overall Veteran care needs and adjust care delivery plans.
  • Inform RN and/or Provider of subtle changes in Veteran's condition requiring higher-level intervention.
  • Recognize and respond to signs of potential drug reactions and inform the RN and/or Provider.
  • Document care delivered and Veteran's response accurately and thoroughly.
  • Promote healthy lifestyles for Veterans and encourage active participation in care.
  • Communicate effectively with Veterans and family members exhibiting difficult behaviors.
  • Assist RN/Provider with medication/treatments, administer medications according to established policies.
  • Contribute to the development and modification of the Veteran's health/treatment plan.
  • Seek educational opportunities to enhance nursing knowledge and provide leadership to other staff.

Requirements

Experience: 6 months of qualifying experience as an LPN or LVN or relevant nursing care experience.

Education: Graduation from an approved school of practical nursing.
