Job Responsibilities
- Engage in selected tasks and activities as directed to assist the nurse in the assessment, planning and evaluation of patient needs.
- Obtain and record vital signs as ordered and or delegated by the RN.
- Perform technical duties and selected treatments, procedures and activities contributing to patient care.
- Ensure accurate patient identification following established policies and procedures.
- Assist in the care of patients with consideration for the safety of key populations.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to address patient/family needs, taking into account cultural and individual diversity.
- Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with patients, families, and staff.
- Cover the Business Associate desk in the absence of the BA under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee.
- Participate in patient bedside report at the beginning of each shift.
- Demonstrate accountability and responsibility in daily performance of role.
- Relocate and rotate to meet patient care needs.
- Complete non-therapeutic functions under the direction of licensed practitioners.
- Remove medications from the pneumatic tube system and deliver them to the appropriate licensed practitioner.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Ability to perform direct patient care activities.
- Effective communication skills.
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training.
Preferred Skills
- CNA certification.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Bilingual proficiency.
Requirements
Experience: Two (2) years relevant direct patient care experience, or equivalent education.
Education: High school diploma or GED; CNA or other educational equivalent.
License & Certification:
- CT CNA certification
- EMT certification or student nurse from an accredited program
- LPN certification.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) training.
