Job Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective dialysis therapy for patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Setup and operate hemodialysis machines.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Support the organization commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.
- Assist in providing detailed education regarding adequacy measures to patients.
- Welcome assigned patients and inquire about their well-being since the last treatment.
- Evaluate vascular access for patency and perform vascular access cannulation.
- Administer heparin as delegated or allowed by state law.
- Obtain pre and post treatment vital signs and weight.
- Monitor patients’ response to dialysis therapy and document treatment parameters.
- Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures.
- Evaluate patients’ vascular access during treatment and document findings.
- Obtain prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.
- Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surfaces and surrounding areas according to facility policy.
- Assist in training direct patient care staff on appropriate programs under the supervision of a nurse.
- Complete and document participation in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) activities.

- Previous patient care experience in a hospital setting or related facility

Requirements
Experience: null
Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
License & Certification:
- Must meet CMS-approved state and/or national certification requirements
- CPR certification
Schedule:
- No Overnight, Sunday or on-call shifts
- Major holidays off (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Days)
