Job Responsibilities
- Manages the operations of 24-hour departments that may be at multiple locations.
- Ensures Assistants and staff provide the highest quality of care in compliance with the Nursing Practice Act and other regulations.
- Establishes, implements, and maintains patient care and service standards to meet member and internal clients' expectations.
- Designs and evaluates processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
- Develops and monitors budgets for appropriate use of human and material resources.
- Monitors financial performance and implements strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
- Determines appropriate staff mix for the department and develops processes for hiring, training, and maintaining staff competency.
- Ensures ongoing staff development.
- Manages and resolves human resource, employee, and department safety issues.
- Develops, implements, and monitors departmental policies and procedures to support organizational goals.
Required Skills
Core Skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act and The Joint Commission
- Leadership experience in clinical nursing
Preferred Skills
- National Certification in Specialty
- ACLS or PALS certification
- Experience in a bargaining environment
- Management experience in Magnet/shared governance
Requirements
Experience: Minimum four (4) years of clinical nursing experience with four (4) years of management, supervisory, or leadership experience.
Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a Master's Degree in Nursing.
License & Certification:
- Registered Nurse License (California) required at hire
- Basic Life Support
