Job Responsibilities
- Accountable to the Nurse Manager in the ambulatory care setting/Primary Care/PACT.
- Work under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Responsible for the treatment, observation, and care of the Veteran within the scope of LPN functions.
- Assist in overall PACT clinic management, functions, and operations.
- Facilitate patient flow and thorough check-in and checkout processes.
- Provide patient education and/or instructions.
- Demonstrate independent technical judgment and knowledge of complex practices and procedures.
- Assist RN and/or Provider to prioritize overall Veteran care needs.
- Administer prescribed medications/treatments according to established policies/procedures.
- Record administration and Veteran's response to medications/treatments received.
- Recognize potential urgent or emergent Veteran care situations and seek assistance as needed.
- Document care delivered and Veteran's response to care accurately and thoroughly.

- Proficient in patient care and practical nursing

- Knowledge of administering medications and treatments
- Ability to observe subtle physical and emotional changes in patients
- Strong documentation and communication skills
Preferred Skills
- Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience in preventive health management
- Demonstrated leadership skills
Requirements
Experience: At least one (1) year of additional qualifying experience at the GS-6 level or equivalent.
Education: Graduate of a school of practical or vocational nursing approved by the appropriate State agency.
License & Certification:
- Full, active, current and unrestricted licensure as a licensed practical or vocational nurse
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday - 7:30 am to 4:00 pm or 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
COVID-19 Requirements: Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is required.
