Job Responsibilities
- Assists the procedure team by passing the required instruments to the physician, as directed.
- Utilizes endoscopy accessories (i.e., biopsy forceps, snares, etc.) as directed.
- Identifies, with registered nurse, intra-procedure medication, dosage, and labeling of all solutions and drugs.
- Collaborates with physician and registered nurse regarding the proper identification and care of specimens.
- Assists in preparation of room for procedures, including assembling equipment, supplies, instruments, and special items needed for procedures.
- Checks function of equipment and supplies for assigned procedures.
- Assists in clean-up of procedure suite between cases, including disposal of contaminated waste.
- Terminally cleans instruments and checks their function.
- Operates decontamination equipment.
- Replenishes special supplies as needed and cares for special instruments and equipment.
- Returns unused supplies to their proper place.
- Brings specimens to the lab.
